Storyboarding Notes

Shot sizes

E.g. Subject closely framed in the shot gives us increased detail on the actors' facial expressions.

Over the shoulder shot gives us a perspective of conversations- usually comes in sequences.


Camera angle

E.g High angle shot displays the characters' vulnerability- represents lower status.

Low angle displays power/importance- higher status.


Key Components of storyboard

  • An image represents what the audience would see. 
  • A shot numbers are used to keep track of the frames and narrative in order. 
  • The location and the time of day of the shot so the lighting can arranged.
  • The type of shot (use the names that we used at the start). 
  • A brief description of what happens in the shot. 
  • Arrows indicating any camera movements in the shot
